"In the summer of 2007, Lewisporte Stadium, in Lewisporte NL was ready for new hockey boards. Arena Facility Manager Derek Bennett explains, "Our old board system was high maintenance: the gates would not close properly or securely and it was very dirty and unattractive looking."

Looking for assurances that the boards chosen would be the best choice the town could make for maintenance free operation, player safety and outstanding appearance, Derek came to Waterloo ON to visit the Sport Systems Unlimited manufacturing facility, and found the answers he was looking for. 'I found the trip to Waterloo to be very reassuring; it provided me with an opportunity to view other arenas that use the SSU boards and speak to other arena managers. The tour of the Sport Systems plant confirmed that SSU uses quality materials, that are well researched; these boards are built using state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.'

Derek's opinion now that their new boards are in place? 'Our new SSU boards are very esthetically appealing. Each section joins perfectly with the next, and the gates open and close with ease. Players really like the new Sport Systems Unlimited boards. The system is very durable, yet it has good flex which will reduce the chances of injuries. And, I have heard from a number of players and fans that we have the best looking system in the province!'

With remaining construction still to be completed, the new boards had to be partially removed at the end of the 07 season. Derek comments, 'The system was very easily dismantled and easy to handle. The storage carts also were very well constructed and could handle the necessary weight and were very maneuverable.'"

"In 2006, The Nottawasaga Inn Resort, located near Alliston, Ontario, added a hockey arena to its long list of amenities. Known as Centre Ice Sportsplex, it features 2 NHL size professionally maintained ice surfaces, oversized change rooms with in-floor heating, integrated coaches rooms and stadium seating.

The hockey boards they chose were the Pro Series, by Sport Systems Unlimited.

The Nottawasaga is located on 575 acres of rolling countryside has been owned and operated since its inception in 1968 by the Biffis family, whose expertise in constructing The Resort and the hundreds of upscale residences adjacent, known as Green Briar and Briar Hill, put them in the prime position of being their own General Contractor.

The pursuit of perfection is the family mantra, and when it came to selecting the hockey boards for the new rink, their decision was made with considerable deliberation and a great deal of homework.

Dino Biffis speaks for the family: "We researched many companies in the dasher board business. We felt that the investment we were making in building this arena demanded that we find exactly the right product for every part of the building, from the roof to the walls; from the lighting to the paint; from the seating to the refrigeration. And selecting the dasher boards was no exception."

The decision, in the end, came down to more than a competitive price – in fact, Dino points out the price from Sport Systems Unlimited was not the lowest one they got. "The truth is, we solicited prices from not less than 4 dasher board companies, and as I recall, Sport Systems Unlimited presented one of the higher quotes we received. Our experience is 'you get what you pay for', so we did some digging. We accepted the invitation to tour the Sport Systems manufacturing facility; we went to arenas where their boards had been installed, and we could see these people have got things figured out."

Late in the summer of 2006, the installation was complete, the arena was opened, and the Biffis family began receiving accolades for having built one of the best new arenas in its class in Canada.

Early in 2007, construction began to twin Nottawasaga's Centre Ice Sportsplex arena. This time, the decision on which boards to use was easy. It took just one call to Sport Systems Unlimited.

Dino continues, "No question, when people come to The Nottawasaga Inn Resort, they can see we really care about the quality of their experience, whether it's staying as a guest at the resort, here for a tournament or playing an hour of pick-up hockey. We believe that the Sport Systems Unlimited hockey boards we chose are a true reflection of that belief."

Dear Sport Systems Unlimited,

On behalf of Bud Light and BBF Promotions and Events, we would like to express our appreciation to Sport Systems Unlimited for their willingness to assist and take action.

One year following having purchased a set of boards and having stored them in a warehouse of several months some discolouration wad found in several places on the product. We were told that the issue is referred to as phenolic yellowing. Sport Systems Unlimited was immediately contacted for assistance. They worked with our team to help find a solution for the discolouration. Various cleaning methods were suggested and tried, and a piece of board was sent back to Sport Systems Unlimited's factory for testing. Unfortunately no solution for this rare problem was found.
As a result, Sport Systems Unlimited's CEO Adam Pender unhesitatingly offered to replace all of the boards, despite their degree of damage, at no cost. Due to our urgent need for the boards, Sport Systems Unlimited graciously had them delivered within 48 hours.
The boards were used later that week at an event in downtown Montreal and were a great success!
